About The Missionary

The Island of Mindanao is the Philippines’ southern-most major landmass. Most of the people are farmers who live in simple wooden houses located in villages high in the mountains.

Glen and his family have given their lives for the work of the ministry and are active in evangelism through church planting, youth camps, open-air preaching, and Vacation Bible School. The Mindanao Evangelistic Bible Seminary and Institute is training church planters for work in the rural regions of Mindanao.

About The Field:

The Philippines, an archipelago in Southeast Asia, grapples with a variety of economic and social challenges shaped by its geographical diversity, historical influences, and cultural complexities.

Economically, the Philippines has seen growth driven by sectors like services, manufacturing, and remittances from overseas Filipino workers. However, challenges persist, including income inequality, a high poverty rate, and dependence on a few key industries, such as outsourcing and agriculture. Informality in the labor market is also prevalent.

Social challenges in the Philippines are diverse and impactful. Access to quality education remains a concern, with disparities in educational resources and infrastructure, particularly in rural areas. Healthcare accessibility and affordability are major issues, leading to disparities in health outcomes, especially in remote regions.

The historical and cultural fabric of the Philippines is deeply influenced by its colonial past, primarily Spanish colonization and subsequent American influence. The majority of the population practices Roman Catholicism, and the historical legacy of Spanish rule is evident in aspects of language, religion, and cultural traditions.

Ethnic and cultural diversity is a hallmark of the Philippines, with various indigenous groups contributing to the nation’s rich cultural tapestry. However, issues related to indigenous rights, cultural preservation, and representation persist, particularly affecting marginalized communities.

Geopolitically, the Philippines faces challenges related to maritime disputes, environmental conservation, and vulnerability to natural disasters, particularly typhoons.
